STRM Newsletter 20 December – The Festival of Lights

Brethren,

This weeks message explores the origins of Festival of Lights which is observed in some form in all religions. When we read Luke chapter two it is evident that Y’HoWShUA could not have been born on the 25th of December as is commonly believed. The Bible provides us the information we need to identify the actual date of our Messiah’s birth. If we take this fact and the admonition in Jeremiah chapter ten seriously, it is clear that the Children of YHWH should not participate in the observance of Christmas.

However, there is a growing movement in the Hebrew roots community to observe Hanukkah. The primary justification being that Y’HoWShUA himself observed it as the Feast of Dedication. When we review the explicit statements given in John chapter 10 it is difficult to support this assertion. This in turn raises the question – should we observe the Jewish tradition of Hanukkah?

Please watch this weeks message here as it answers that question.

Next week we will be exploring the relationship between Lucifer and Satan.
