STRM Newsletter 17 January – The Second Commandment

Shalom brethren! I pray that you have had an enjoyable and blessed week! This message continues our study series on the Commandments and the Law, this week the Second Commandment. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, YHWH your Mighty One, am a jealous Mighty One, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My Commandments“. (Exodus 20:4-6 NKJV) There are two forms of idolatry, physical and spiritual. Physical idolatry is easy to identify and avoid. Visit any Catholic or Orthodox church and you will be overwhelmed by the idols they worship in the form of statues, icon, crucifixes and holy relics. Even the Jews have been carried away into idolatry with their veneration of the Star of Chemosh, the six pointed star. Spiritual idolatry is harder to detect. In the letter to the Colossians Paul clearly identifies what it is, which enables us to avoid falling into that sin. Many people have expressed concern that YHWH, the epitome and source of all Love, could express jealousy. When we study the root words in Hebrew and Greek, qana and zeloo respectively, we find that an acceptable translation would be “zealous”. It is more comforting to think that YHWH is zealous for His people and in return we...

STRM Newsletter 10 January – The First Commandment

This weeks message, “The First Commandment – Serve no other gods” starts our study series on the Ten Commandments. The first part of the message provides an overview of the structure of the Commandments. The first four define our relationship with YHWH. The fifth is a transitional Commandment leading in to the next four which define the relationship we are to have with other human beings. The tenth Commandment is again a transitional statement. This time it changes the focus from how we act to how we think and lays the introduction for the ministry of Y’HoWShUA which was to “fulfil the Law”. The First Commandment “I am YHWH thy Mighty One, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me” (KJV) identifies the Mighty One of Israel. It is a covenantal relationship between YHWH and His chosen people. This means there is a two way obligation and positive and negative consequences of the contract. YHWH will be our Mighty One and do us good by protecting us and bringing us into a land flowing with milk and honey if we serve Him alone. However, if we go after other gods He will search us out for harm and punishment, up to the complete destruction of our nation, as He did with Israel and Judah in the past. As His chosen people, the Children of YHWH are in an extremely exclusive community with only a few tens of thousands, from all the population of the earth who have ever lived, having successfully completed the...

STRM Newsletter 3 January – The Commandments and the Law

Welcome to the new calendar year of 2015! I believe that this is going to be a year of great changes in the world and we may even start to experience the signs of Joel 2 with the outpouring of the Ruach HaKodesh on His children! This year we will see the Biblical New Year start on 20 March at the same time as the Spring Equinox, this will also be a Total Solar Eclipse, a sackcloth sun. At Passover we will experience the 3rd blood moon of this tetrad. This is also the beginning of the Sabbath year, a year of rest for the land. In the Fall we will experience another sackcloth sun on the Feast of Trumpets and ten days later on the Day of Atonement, the shofar shall be sounded to announce the beginning of the Jubilee year. On this same day the second countdown of Daniel’s 70 week prophecy shall be completed. The Feast of Tabernacles will start with the final blood moon of the tetrad. So in the prophetic arena this is a year for us all to be diligently watching for increasing signs of Messiah’s return. We will be observing the Biblical calendar based on the astronomical conjunction of the New Moon (this places our celebrations 1 day before the calculated Hebrew calendar because of the unscriptural postponements that calendar introduces). The feast dates are as follows: 20 March – New Moon Day – 1st day of the Biblical New Year 1 April – Last Supper (after sunset) 2 April – Passover (at sunset) 3 April – First Day of Unleavened Bread...

STRM Newsletter 20 December – The Festival of Lights

Brethren, This weeks message explores the origins of Festival of Lights which is observed in some form in all religions. When we read Luke chapter two it is evident that Y’HoWShUA could not have been born on the 25th of December as is commonly believed. The Bible provides us the information we need to identify the actual date of our Messiah’s birth. If we take this fact and the admonition in Jeremiah chapter ten seriously, it is clear that the Children of YHWH should not participate in the observance of Christmas. However, there is a growing movement in the Hebrew roots community to observe Hanukkah. The primary justification being that Y’HoWShUA himself observed it as the Feast of Dedication. When we review the explicit statements given in John chapter 10 it is difficult to support this assertion. This in turn raises the question – should we observe the Jewish tradition of Hanukkah? Please watch this weeks message here as it answers that question. Next week we will be exploring the relationship between Lucifer and...

STRM Newsletter 13 December – Laodicea

Brethren, Shalom! I pray that you have had a blessed week. Please remember to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. The latest round of political infighting seriously weakens Israel at a time when she is most threatened by the Islamic states surrounding her. At the same time Israel is receiving the lowest level of support from the American administration in living memory. A house divided cannot stand. Just as it is prophesied that America must fall before the end comes, so also Israel must be so weakened that they compromise with the Beast power to allow him to enter the set apart city and set up his own form of worship on the Temple mount. Again the news events parallel the attitude we find in the final letter to the seven assemblies of Asia minor. The 7th assembly, Laodicea was criticized for having works which were lukewarm. Y’HoWShUA admonished them and told them to be zealous and repent. If the people held fast to the covenant with YHWH they would be invited to sit on the throne alongside Y’HoWShUA. But mainstream Christianity, Judaism and many Sabbaterian assemblies are indifferent to the Word of YHWH, to the point that ecumenism, a one world, all embracing false religion is gaining momentum across the globe. Brethren, we are commanded to hold fast to the truth, to not deny His Name and to be zealous and ready for His return. If we are not, He will vomit us out of His presence and we shall not be able to enter in to the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. Instead we will be...

Daily Scripture John 15:5

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. (John 15:5 KJV) The symbolism here is of a perfect symbiotic relationship. Y’HoWShUA is the vine which provides all the support and nutrients the branches need. The branches part in this is to bring forth fruit which is the ultimate fulfillment of the vine’s purpose. How do we apply this teaching? We can do nothing without Y’HoWShUA. We must abide in Him, be totally connected to Him and turn to Him for all of our needs. In return He will provide everything we need to thrive. Then we must bear fruit, to preach the Word and bring many to righteousness through the example of our daily lives, lived in perfect harmony with Y’HoWShUA....
